Manchester City v Feyenoord preview: Pep Guardiola hunting top spot

Manchester City will look to confirm top spot with a game to spare when welcoming Feyenoord in their Champions League Group F clash on Tuesday.

Pep Guardiola’s side have already qualified for the knockout stages in Europe, and will finish top if they can better Shakhtar Donetsk’s result at Napoli.

Manchester City are without defender John Stones for the visit of Feyenoord. The England international faces up to six weeks out with a hamstring injury but fellow centre-back Nicolas Otamendi returns after a domestic suspension.
Captain Vincent Kompany came through his return to action at Leicester at the weekend unscathed but other options include Eliaquim Mangala and Tosin Adarabioyo.

Guardiola may give Yaya Toure, Ilkay Gundogan, Danilo and Bernardo Silva some game time, while England U17 World Cup winner Phil Foden and Spain U21 international Brahim Diaz could play some part.

PSG, Manchester City and Barcelona are the favourite for me right now. We can see Pep Guardiola has learnt a lot from the mistakes he made and what they’ve got now is momentum, belief and swagger to go out and beat anybody.

You can’t go out and kick teams now with the way referees are so how do you stop this side? This isn’t getting carried away, Guardiola will not let his team’s levels drop and they are all at it to fight for their places.

I’d be looking at a -4 handicap here given the quality of the players they can bring in, with Sergio Aguero and Ilkay Gundogan coming in fit, even if they are a bit short of defensive options.
