Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has played down the chances of his side winning the Premier League title this season.
The Reds beat
Manchester City 1-0 at Anfield on Saturday evening but remain six points behind leaders
Chelsea, who secured their 13th league victory in a row by seeing off Stoke City 4-2 at Stamford Bridge. An early Georginio Wijnaldum header sealed the three points for Liverpool against a strangely subdued City side that are struggling to stay in the title race.
„We have to win our games and see where it leads us,“ said former Borussia Dortmund boss Klopp.
„When you are still there with five, six or seven matches to go you can think differently – but at the moment you only have to collect points.
„The league is unbelievably difficult. We cannot look at Chelsea, they are unbelievably strong with 13 wins in a row. Not bad.
„But can you imagine how annoying it is when you win 13 games in a row and there is one team only six points behind?“
Liverpool’s next match is against struggling Sunderland on Monday. Klopp’s side can be backed at 8/1 to ease to a 3-0 win at the Stadium of Light and at 7/1 to win from behind against David Moyes’ team.
