The Alexis Sanchez conundrum: Should Arsenal sell or keep their star?

Bet365

We asked Sky Sports readers for their opinion on Alexis Sanchez’s future at Arsenal as the summer continues without resolution.

Sanchez is Paris Saint-Germain’s No 1 summer target despite Arsene Wenger’s insistence he is not for sale, according to Sky sources.

It is understood PSG want a marquee signing before the transfer window shuts, and Arsenal’s Chile forward Sanchez tops their list.
But what would you do? We asked for your suggestions on Wednesday morning from our @SkySportsPL account…

Want to have your say? Vote at the bottom of the article!

Sell him…

Plenty of you believe the club should cash in on the Chilean, particularly with just a year left on his current contract and with time against Arsenal before the end of the transfer window.

Jacomus22 @jacomus22 – Sell him. He doesn’t want to be at the club and we could receive silly money from PSG that could be reinvested.

Pearse Johnston @PearseJohnston – Sell him, no ones bigger than the club.. get 50 mill in for him put it towards lemar and sign one more player.

Mitch Bennett-Morgan @Mitch_BM – I’d cash in, all this uncertainty is not great going into a new season we had enough of that last season! £60m minimum though

Alex Berridge‏ @Alex_Berridge – Cash in to foreign club. Id even take less money just as long as it’s abroad

Akinwunmi Odunsi @gr8akin – He should be SOLD, hes not bigger than the club, we don’t need players like him. We need dedicated players

See out his contract…

Sanchez could go for free next summer if Arsenal do not sell and do not offer a new deal. However, the Gunners could hold off now and offer him a new deal in January if the Gunners are flying high, or if Wenger is to bring the Premier League back to north London, he could convince Sanchez to stay on next summer…

WhittonXCII @Whitton_92 – See out contract, hope we do something this year to convince him to stay… winning the league is the only thing I can see doing that tho
Gooner Stan @afc_stan92 – Make him stay for last year of contract, hope he sees the potential in a front three of him, Ozil and Lacazette and wants to stay.

Rhys‏ @rhysnthomas23 – Let him leave free next year . Loosing money has no affect on us fans what’s so ever . It’s not our money .rather enjoy watching him 1 year

hasib981‏ @Hasib981 – Go free next year. Sanchez will be 29, will probably get 2 – 3 years more at top flight football.

Give him a new deal…

Sanchez has been Arsenal’s star player since joining from Barcelona in 2014; can they really afford to let him leave with the club outside of the Champions League for the first time in over two decades?

‘Keep at all costs’ seems to be the view of many Gunners fans on social media…

Phumelela‏ @phumielekhoathi – He’ll sign a new deal with a buyout clause if we don’t make CL

Adam Harris‏ @adzac99 – Thing is no player comes close to him, he is irreplaceable. Give him what he wants, if we dont get cl next season then he can leave.

Alex Hill‏ @AlexxHill93 – Arsenal have shown they have the money to get these big players in, they need to keep their best players. Give him the new deal.

barefoot traveler‏ @nkathuto – Wenger is right, he should sign a new deal. Everyone, including him, are to blame for us not making CL; therefore he should stay.

But who could Arsenal sign?

PSG have a transfer budget of more than £200m this summer, meaning Arsenal could demand a big fee for Sanchez, begging the question: who would you bring in to replace Sanchez?

You gave us some interesting suggestions, from Lemar to Mahrez, and Perisic to Dybala…

Jacomus22‏ @jacomus22 – Thomas Lemar for one. I would also go out there and bid for a world class centre back.
stevie dove @1steviend – Ivan peresic as united have stalled on the player…will fit in well there.

Virtuoso‏ @AmVirtuoso – Reinvest in mahrez, Lemar, dembele, mbappe, asensio, caudrado..

joshua‏ @_joshuahemmings – Lemar, Mahrez, Reus – or even give youth a chance

Jack Allcock‏ @jack_allcock – If we can get 50m for Alexis from PSG, I’d snap their hand off and drive him to Paris myself. What’s Juve’s stand on dybala?
