Chris Hughton wants Brighton signings before Premier League bow

Chris Hughton is hopeful of adding more signings at Brighton in a bid to keep them in contention in the Premier League.

Brighton have brought in four players since their promotion from the Sky Bet Championship in May, with Hughton currently preparing his squad for a top-flight campaign on a pre-season tour in Austria.

The Seagulls will face off against the financial muscle of Manchester City on the Premier League’s opening weekend, though, and Hughton is keen to make more additions to his side to ensure they can compete.
„We would like to start the season and finish the window with a squad we feel is capable of doing enough,“ the former Newcastle and Norwich manager told Sky Sports News HQ.
„I’m really delighted with the work we’ve done so far. We made a decision at the end of last season we wanted to add to the squad. It’s always difficult getting that balance between what we had last season to improving the squad.“

Hughton added: „From my last experiences here [in the Premier League] the dramatic change has been the level of transfers, and transfer fees. Certainly as a club coming into this division that is something we have to work with and try to get used to.“

The Brighton boss confirmed record signing Matt Ryan will join up with his new team-mates next week after his involvement with Australia at the Confederations Cup.
Austria international Markus Suttner has already linked up with the Seagulls after joining from Ingolstadt for an undisclosed fee this week, though, and Hughton believes the new recruit can have an impact in many ways.

„He’s a player that we followed for some time, whichever role we want him, whether it’s defensive as a left-back or [he is] good going forward,“ Hughton added. „He certainly has a prowess when it comes to set-plays.“
