Euro Paper Talk: Edinson Cavani reportedly offered to Real Madrid
Bet365Europe’s transfer window may now be shut until winter comes, but this doesn’t stop the press reporting on future deals, future stars looking for bigger things, or unhappy players looking for a change of scenery.
Our friends at Football Whispers have scoured the continental media for the latest news and transfer rumours.
Spain
Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has reportedly offered Edinson Cavani to Real Madrid, as the French side look to end the tension which have emerged in their forward line between Cavani and new signing Neymar. The South American pair have been seen arguing over who takes set pieces for the side and their manager Unai Emery wants the pair to sort it out. However, the club’s president may have another solution, but Real Madrid may not be keen on taking the Uruguay striker at this time. (Diario Gol)
Inaki Williams has spoken about the summer interest in him from clubs across Europe, and the Athletic Bilbao forward has not ruled out a move. „Dortmund, Inter, Milan, and Liverpool? When large teams are interested in you or you come close to signing for them, it can only please you and show that what you are doing is positive,“ said the 23-year-old. (AS)

Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund are among the clubs hoping to sign Marseille left-back Christopher Rocchia. Gilles Grimandi, the Gunners’ French scout, has identified the player as a possible long-term solution in the position to fight it out with Sead Kolasinac for a starting spot. They will face competition from Borussia Dortmund for his signature, as the German club’s sporting director Michael Zorc is also a fan of the 19-year-old. (Foot Mercato)

Werder Bremen wonderkid David Philipp is attracting admiring glances from the Premier League, with Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool both interested in the attacking midfielder. „I wouldn’t want to rule out the interest in David from the English clubs,“ said the club’s academy director, Bjorn Schierenbeck. The 17-year-old’s contract expires next summer, and there are likely to be plenty of clubs interested. (Sky Deutschland)
Robert Lewandowski is learning Spanish, in what is being seen as preparation for a move to Real Madrid. The Bayern Munich striker is thought to want to make the move this summer rather than hang on at his current club for a year longer than he wants to, as he did at Dortmund. (Sport Bild)
France
It looked like Edinson Cavani would be forced out of Paris Saint-Germain following several on-pitch altercations with Neymar, as both vie to be the main man up front for the Ligue 1 side. However, ever the peacemaker, Dani Alves gathered his team-mates together at a Paris restaurant to calm the atmosphere following the petulant bust-ups during the past week. (L’Equipe)
Karim Benzema has signed a new contract with Real Madrid yesterday, and the club will now move to secure a long-term deal for manager Zinedine Zidane, who has less than a year left on his current deal. „On the subject of the extension, it is done,“ Zidane said on Tuesday, with only a few details left to iron out.
