Fabrizio Ravanelli applies for vacant Hearts manager’s job

Former Middlesbrough and Dundee striker Fabrizio Ravanelli has applied for the vacant Hearts manager’s position.

The 48-year-old has been out of management since leaving AC Ajaccio in 2013.

Ian Cathro was relieved of his duties at Tynecastle on Tuesday, four days before Hearts’ Scottish Premiership opener away at Celtic.

First Team Coach Jon Daly is in temporary charge for Saturday’s trip to Celtic Park.
After an illustrious career in Italy, most notably with Juventus, Ravanelli made a name for himself in the UK with a prolific season at Middlesbrough.

The passionate Italian endeared himself to Boro fans with 31 goals in the 1996/97 campaign, before leaving Teesside for Marseille.
But, in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports in April, Ravanelli – who had a short spell at Scottish side Dundee – revealed he dreamed of returning to Boro in a coaching capacity.
„It’s my dream to go back to Middlesbrough one day as their manager,“ he said.
