Real Madrid starlet reveals Chelsea star told him to join Atletico Madrid

Real Madrid starlet Alexandro Craninx Joostens has revealed Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois told him to join Atletico Madrid.

The Blues shot-stopper enjoyed three brilliant seasons on loan at Atletico, winning La Liga, the Spanish Cup and the Europa League. And the 22-year-old clearly enjoyed his time so much that he tried to persuade fellow Belgian goalkeeper Joostens to join Atletico.

• The 19-year-old is tipped for a big future and comparisons have already been made to Courtois.
• Joostens was wanted by clubs all over Europe in his youth, but he opted for Real Madrid in the end despite Courtois’ words of advice.
• „I found it very special that he called me,“ Joosten told Het Nieuwsblad.
• „But I had already made up my mind because by then I had signed a contract with Real Madrid.“
