Tuesday’s Liverpool transfer rumours: Virgil van Dijk, Philippe Coutinho, Ben Woodburn, Ryan Kent

We round up the latest Liverpool transfers rumours from around the British and European press on Tuesday, August 8.

There are just over three weeks until Deadline Day and there are plenty of significant potential deals.

The relationship between one of the Premier League’s best defenders and his club appears to have deteriorated after Virgil van Dijk handed in a transfer request at Southampton.

Van Dijk says he has no alternative after being told the club intend to fine him two weeks wages.

The Dutchman is insulted at suggestions he’s refused to train and claims Southampton have known his intention to move for six months.
Liverpool were forced to drop their interest in the defender after Southampton reported them to the Premier League for an alleged illegal approach.

Chelsea and Manchester City are also understood to be interested but Sky Sports News understands Southampton are unlikely to change their stance that the player is not for sale.

From potential incomings to potential outgoings now, and Sky sources claim Philippe Coutinho would like to move to Barcelona if a deal can be done amicably with Liverpool.

Coutinho signed a new five-year contract at Liverpool in January and the club remain adamant he is not for sale.
However, Mundo Deportivo claim Barcelona officials will fly to England to finalise a deal to bring the Brazilian to the Nou Camp this summer.

Hannover 96, meanwhile, are interested in Liverpool youngsters Ryan Kent and Ben Woodburn, reports German sports magazine Kicker.

The Bundesliga outfit are considering tabling a proposal to take Kent, 20, and Woodburn, 17, on loan from the Reds.
Midfielder Kent spent last season on loan at Barnsley, while forward Woodburn became the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer when he netted against Leeds last November.Euro Soccer Bonus
