Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has quashed reports suggesting star striker Antoine Greizmann will leave the club this summer to join Manchester United.

France international Griezmann is thought to have been a long-term transfer target for the Red Devils, who looks set for another busy summer in the transfer window in their bid to get back to the top of the Premier League.

However according to Cerezo, United manager Jose Mourinho will have to look at other stars to bolster his attacking options at Old Trafford, with Greizmann currently contracted to Atleti until 2021.

Griezmann has 15 goals this term in 31 appearances for Atlet, and starred for France at Euro 2016 as Les Bleus managed to reach the final of the competition only to lose to Portugal.

„Manchester United?“ Cerezo said when asked about Griezmann’s propsed departure from the Vicente Calderon by reporters, before jokingly adding: „Small team.“

He added: „I believe in the contracts that people sign, that goes for [Diego] Simeone and Griezmann.“

In the past Greizmann has spoken of his admiration for United but it looks like the player will be staying in Spain for the foreseeable future.
