Liverpool striker Danny Ings scores against Swansea U23s on return to action after injury

Danny Ings marked his return to action after injury with a goal after just 11 minutes in Liverpool U23s 2-0 victory at Swansea in their opening PL2 fixture of the season.

The Liverpool striker was unable to beat Swansea goalkeeper Gregor Zabret with a fifth-minute effort but did not have to wait long to get off the mark.

Just six minutes later, Ings latched on to a downward header from England U17 striker Rhian Brewster before instinctively rifling in first-time with a half-volley.
The 25-year-old was replaced at half-time by Paulo Alves in a pre-planned substitution by Liverpool U23s boss Neil Critchley.

And Liverpool sealed a 2-0 win in the second half when highly-rated youngster Yan Dhanda raced on to a Matty Virtue through ball and smashed home from the edge of the area.

Ings has not featured for the first team since undergoing surgery to repair cartilage damage in his right knee sustained in Liverpool’s 2-1 EFL quarter-final win over Tottenham last October.

The striker had only just returned to action after 11 months out with an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee suffered during Jurgen Klopp’s first training session as Liverpool boss in October 2015.Euro Soccer Bonus
