Midfielder Michael Carrick pens new United deal
Bet365Veteran Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick, who will have a testimonial next week, has signed a new one-year contract.
The 35-year-old started 18 Premier League matches for the Europa League and EFL Cup winners in the 2016/17 season.
Carrick has spent 11 campaigns at Old Trafford since leaving Tottenham for United in 2006 and has won five Premier League titles, and clinched one Champions League triumph during his time with the club.
„I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Michael over this past season,“ United boss Jose Mourinho said.
„He is one of the true professionals of the game. Not only is he a great footballer, he is also a fantastic human being and a great role model to our younger members of the team.
„I am delighted he has extended his contract and I would like to take this opportunity to wish Michael all the best for his well-deserved testimonial match next Sunday.“
Manchester United can be backed at 10/3 to win the Premier League title in the 2017/18 season while Mourinho’s team, who were sixth in the season just ended, are 1/2 to finish in the top four next term.
